Scrive has long been the obvious Swedish choice for e-signing. We have reviewed prices, features, security, and alternatives — so you know whether Scrive is still the right choice in 2026.

Scrive is one of Sweden’s best-known e-signing services. The company was founded in 2010 and has built a strong reputation especially among businesses that need legally valid signing with Swedish BankID. Since 2020 Scrive has been owned by British Vitruvian Partners, but operations and development still take place in Sweden.
Pros and cons of Scrive
Pros
- Swedish company with data stored within the EU/EES, including a sovereignty option with Swedish Cleura.
- ISO 27001:2022 certified with a strong evidence package for every signed document.
- Broad support for Nordic e-IDs: BankID, MitID and others.
- Unlimited documents even in the Essential entry plan.
Cons
- BankID is not included in the entry plan. You need the Business plan from about 49 €/user/month.
- Annual billing is required for the advertised prices.
- The standard platform runs on AWS, an American cloud company. Sovereign operations require the Extended Compliance add-on.
- Owner Vitruvian Partners is based in the UK, outside the EU.

Prices are for annual payment. For Swedish small businesses, the big question is therefore: are you prepared to pay for the Business plan to get BankID?
When is Scrive the right choice?
Scrive suits you if:
- you write agreements that must hold up in court
- you need Swedish BankID and other Nordic e-IDs
- you want an established company with strong security certification
- you have budget for the Business plan or can negotiate Enterprise
Alternatives to consider
- DocuSign — world-leading, enormous feature depth and integration range. The downside is that it is American and subject to the CLOUD Act.
- GetAccept — sales-oriented digital sales room with e-signing, document tracking and video greetings. Swedish roots but American parent company.
- Local/storage-secure alternatives — if you want to avoid American clouds entirely, look at providers with operations in Swedish or European clouds.
Security and GDPR
Scrive has a data processing agreement, data storage within the EU/EES and also offers Extended Compliance with operations at Swedish Cleura. It is one of the stronger evidence packages on the market. Note that if you choose the standard platform, data is processed on AWS, so review the DPA if you have particularly sensitive agreements.
Summary
Scrive remains one of the safest and most thoroughly developed alternatives for Swedish e-signing. The biggest mark against the rating is that BankID requires the more expensive Business plan. For smaller businesses that only sign a few documents a month the price can feel high; for businesses with contract volumes and demands for legal security it is a safe choice.

- Broadest certification portfolio in the comparison: ISO 27001/27017/27018, SOC 2, C5 and more
- American company subject to the CLOUD Act regardless of where data is stored
Best for: Companies with many international counterparties that already expect DocuSign, and where Swedish BankID signing is not a main requirement.
GetAccept
GetAccept Inc.
Sales-focused 'digital sales room' with e-signing, tracking and video greetings, founded in Malmö and popular among Swedish sales teams. The catch: the legal domicile is American GetAccept Inc. Document data is indeed stored in the EU, but CLOUD Act exposure remains.
- Strong sales focus: document tracking, video presentations and reminders increase the share of signed deals
- Swedish roots with large Malmö office and support in Swedish
- Parent company is American GetAccept Inc. despite Swedish marketing and is subject to CLOUD Act
Best for: Sales-driven small businesses that want to combine quotes, engagement tracking and signing in one flow, and prioritize sales features over data sovereignty.
