How we review (and how we make money)

aivalet.nu exists to help Swedish businesses choose right, not to sell. Here is exactly how we work so you can trust what you read.

Best for you wins, even if it earns us nothing

We recommend the tool that is actually best for the need, even when it is free, open source or a Swedish company that does not pay us a single krona. Tools without an affiliate program (such as ChatGPT, Jitsi or Excalidraw) are ranked on exactly the same terms as everyone else.

How we set ratings

Each tool is assessed on four parts, in addition to an overall rating:

The overall rating, the decimal number you see in the catalogue, for example 4.3, weighs the sub-ratings together with data protection: price, features, local support and where the data ends up all count. That is why a cheap tool with weak data protection can end up with a lower overall rating than a pricier alternative within the EU, and a tool that is free but lacks Swedish-language support can land in the middle of the scale despite costing nothing.

The basis: documented research, not lab tests

We do not claim to have tested every tool in our own lab environment. The ratings are built on documented research: the vendors' pricing pages, terms, certifications and trust centers, supplemented by user reviews and independent reports. When we describe a feature, we base it on the vendor's own documentation and what users report, not on claimed first-hand tests. What is a vendor claim versus substantiated fact is shown by the sources on each tool page.

Origin and data protection

We label every tool by where the vendor is based (🇸🇪 Swedish, 🇪🇺 EU/EEA, 🤝 EU-approved third country with adequate protection, or 🌍 outside the EU) and by whether data is stored in the EU. A US company can be covered by the CLOUD Act even with EU servers, so we weigh who owns the service, not just where the server is. Certifications (ISO 27001 etc.) are included when we can substantiate them via the vendor's trust center. Read more under Data protection & EU laws.

Evidence before claims

Claims about data storage, jurisdiction, certifications and compliance must be verifiable, not taken on our word. Tool pages therefore link the evidence (primarily the vendor's own documentation: trust center, privacy policy, pricing page) under the heading Sources & evidence. When the vendor's own information is missing we say so instead of relying on second-hand claims. Find a claim without evidence? Email hej@aivalet.nu and we will correct or source it.

How we make money

Some links are affiliate links. If you click and become a customer we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you and without affecting the rating. That is how we fund the review work and keep the catalogue updated. Links that may earn us a fee are clearly marked Affiliate link. More under About affiliate links.
